World Meal
 

The goal of this activity was to heighten awareness about the overabundance of food in Western society, particularly in comparison with how much the majority of the world eats. We cooked a World Meal, which is the average meal for the average person on the planet, and shared it with a group of Learners and Staff in Cothrom.   It consisted of a limited amount of rice and beans, along with a lentil dahl and was enjoyed by most… Pictured on the left a picture of the typical lunch I enjoy!

Second Hand News

 

Did you know that you could create handy baskets and coasters from yesterday’s newspaper? On Tuesday 15 th May, this was something we all learnt in this workshop ably demonstrated by Heather Howie. Some of us struggled with the paper weaving as it got further up the basket and needed a lot of clothes pegs to keep it in place! Pictured here is some of the group and circled are the completed products which Heather brought along to show us.

 

 

   

Recycle and Reuse

 

Heather Howie rejoined us on Thursday 17 th May to show us how to recycle our juice tetrapaks into pocket purses. With a lot of patience, a little imagination and some velcro we created one-off designer purses. Now we have somewhere to keep all this money we are going to save by embracing the world of recycling…
