Management

Background

Recent local research has revealed a positive requirement for management training and development at a range of levels. In order to meet this need, Cothrom has launched SVQs in Team Leading at Level 2, and Management at

Level 3.

These work-based programmes are aimed at assessing the skills and knowledge that candidates currently possess, and furthermore need, to perform their roles effectively. Candidates provide evidence relating to the standards for the specific unit being undertaken. Acceptable evidence can include assessor observation in the workplace, reports / plans produced by the candidate or personal statements focussing on ‘real’ work.

Team Leading : Level 2

This programme is aimed at individuals currently in their first supervisory role who are likely to have a limited span of control and responsibility for small teams of people. The programme would perhaps also suit individuals aspiring to a supervisory position who have been given some resource responsibility as part of their on the job development.

Management : Level 3

The programme is aimed at supervisors/junior managers/first

line managers likely to be managing a small unit, or a senior

member of an operational team.
