| It
is now widely accepted that all companies, large
and small need to invest in the skills development
of their staff, in order to fully compete with
other businesses in the UK and around the world.
To
enable your company to do this Cothrom offers
a wide range of training opportunities that
are available in Centres across Uist and Barra
ranging from half day computer sessions to ongoing
courses such as Scottish Vocational Qualifications
in IT and Administration.
Training
may be subsidised using Individual Learning
Accounts, which allows a member of staff earning
less than £15,000 a year to access £200 towards
a recognised training course. Staff earning
over £15,000 may access a sum of £100 to improve
their computer skills.
Cothrom
is contracted by Western Isles Enterprise to
provide the Modern Apprenticeships scheme.
Modern Apprenticeships are based on a full time
job and a real wage and are available through
Cothrom in Administration, Information Technology
and Childcare. Targeting the 16-24 year old
age group, the duration on the scheme can range
from one to four years, resulting in a work
based qualification at Level 3 or above.
