Children's Care Learning and Development II, III & IV

SVQ in Children's Care Learning & Development are qualifications which set out performance and knowledge standards for people who wish to work in childcare.   The SVQ is designed to be used in the workplace.

Level 2 Children's Care Learning & Development
The course requires candidates to be working in a supported role, they should not be working unsupervised.

Level 3 Children's Care Learning & Development
The course requires candidates to be working with minimal supervision and having a high degree of independence for the planning and promotion of the curriculum.

Level 4 Children's Care Learning & Development
The course requires candidates to be in management positions or a senior role in a childcare or education setting.

The level II & III courses run from September through to June.  Level IV is an eighteen month course which requires a higher academic level.

Candidates attend the centre for a weekly two hour evening tutorial, in order to gain the underpinning knowledge necessary for their qualification.  If a candidate is not already working in an Early Years setting they will be placed in a setting, for approximately seven hours per week, in order to gain the necessary experience.   They are also assessed in the workplace and through a range of methods such as assignments, case studies and reflective accounts.
