Community based learning and training supported by quality Gaelic childcare, which enables inclusion and encourages full participation in the economic, social, and cultural life of the Western Isles
Cothrom, meaning opportunity in Gaelic, is a Community and Development organisation in South Uist in the Western Isles. From our base in Ormiclate we cover the islands of Berneray to Barra. Training is the main focus of our work with a diverse portfolio of adult learning opportunities including a furniture restoration and recycling enterprise called ReStore. We also have a full time Gàidhlig Nursery, Cothrom Òg, for 32 children aged 3 months to pre-school.
