Gaelic Funday in Cothrom Og

23/8/2022

A Fun Afternoon took place in Cothrom Og where the children, their parents and their siblings had many fun opportunities to hear and use Gaelic.
Shona Mason from Ceòlas was with us and the children had the chance to shake and hit some instruments and create some lovely music. Singing can be heard every day in Cothrom Og, but it was especially loud in the tent that day with Penny Burgess leading the singing.
The children had the opportunity to sit with Liam Alasdair Crousse and hear some stories or create some art work, or to go with Peigi-Ann MacMillan from Ceòlas and play some different games.
There was tea and coffee provided and some information leaflets to read about Gaelic, Gaelic Medium Education and local classes which are available.
With thanks to Kenny MacDonald and Murphy MacEachan the children had the chance to go inside a lorry and a tractor and this caused great excitement. Another thing which the children enjoyed very much was getting their face painted in beautiful colours by Helen Cummings.
There were some great Gaelic words to be heard like ‘giomach’ and ‘crùbag’ as the children got the opportunity to handle some live seafood.
Luckily it was dry and we could put the bouncy castle up and the children were climbing and sliding and squealing with delight!

Là Fealla-dhà Na Gàidhlig Ann An Cothrom Òg

23/8/2022

Chaidh feasgar làn fealla-dhà a chumail ann an Cothrom Òg far an d’ fhuair a’ chlann anns an sgoil-àraich agus am pàrantan agus am bràithrean ’s peathraichean iomadach cothrom spòrsail a bhith a’ cluinntinn agus a’ cleachdadh na Gàidhlig.

Bha Shona Masson à Ceòlas cuide rinn agus fhuair a’ chlann innealan-ciùil a chrathadh ’s a bhualadh còmhla rithe gus ceòl snog a chruthachadh. Bidh seinn ri chluinntinn a h-uile là ann an Cothrom Òg, ach bha an t-seinn gu math àrd anns an teant an là sin air sàilleabh Penny Burgess a bhith aig an stiùir.

Bha cothrom aig a’ chlann suidhe còmhla ri Liam Alasdair Crouse a choimhead agus dh’èisteachd ri sgeulachdan no a bhith a’ cruthachadh obair-ealain, no dh’fhaodadh iad a dhol còmhla ri Peigi-Ann à Ceòlas agus geamaichean eadar-dhealaichte a chluich.

Bha tì ’s cofaidh ri fhaighinn agus bha bileagan fiosrachaidh ceangailte ri Gàidhlig, Foghlam Tro Mheadhan na Gàidhlig agus clasaichean ionadail ann airson a leughadh.

Le taing gu Kenny MacDonald agus Murphy MacEachan bha cothrom aig a’ chlann a dhol am broinn làraidh agus tractar agus abair gun robh sin na thlachd dhaibh! Rud mòr eile a chòrd ri gu leòr dhuibh, ’s e sin a dhol gu Helen Cummings a bha peantadh na h-aodainn aca le maise-gnùise daiteach.

Bha faclan tarraingeach ri chluinntinn mar ‘giomach’ agus ‘crùbag’ ’s cothrom aig a’ chlann a bhith a’ làimhseachadh maorach beò.

Gu fortanach bha turadh ann, chaidh a’ chaisteal-bocadaich a chur suas agus bha a’ chlann a’ sreap ’s a’ slaighdeadh ’s a’ sgiamhail le toileachas!
