We had a special event in the nursery, Là Mòr Na Leabhraichean, as we were celebrating that we have received a grant of £4000 from Bòrd Na Gàidhlig for Gaelic medium promotion activities. With this money we purchased Gaelic books for the children from Acair, and there was great excitement when we opened our delivery of new books. We were delighted to have Liam Crouse, this year's recipient of the Gaelic Literature Award for best unpublished children's book, join us to read some stories. Liam also helped hand out the book bugs bag we received from The Scottish Book Trust. The children had some great fun exploring books inside the big tent kindly lent by Sgoil Dhalabroig. On this day we also launched our new Pàrant 's Pàiste sessions in partnership with Ceòlas. They will be held every Thursday in term time in Cothrom 1.30-3.00pm. Le taic bho Bhòrd na Gàidhlig

December has been a very busy month. The children in the baby room have been making snowflakes, stockings, snowmen, stars, and reindeer for our Christmas display.
They also made reindeer dust and very cute Christmas cards for their mams and dads. They all had loads of fun at our Christmas party dancing all day long, enjoyed some party food and goodies, and they all looked their best in their lovely outfits. The children in the baby room have been busy making some spooky Halloween decorations.
They also enjoyed sensory play by exploring lots of different textures, such as spaghetti worms, beasties in jelly, and the inside of a pumpkin. Our Halloween Party was a great success. All the children dressed up in some very scary costumes and took part in lots of fun games planned by staff – searching for eyeballs was a particular favourite! The children also made some delicious pumpkin soup which went down a treat.
Airson Latha Fèill Mhìcheil fhuair a chlann an cothrom Stùan a dheanamh comhla ri Fiona. Ged a tha strùan caran doirbh a dheanamh, dh’obraich a h-uile duine uamhasach math comhladh. Chòrd an strùan ris a chlann gu mòr!
For Michaelmas, the children were given the opportunity to make Strùan with Fiona. Although this is a complex process, everyone worked well together to create a very tasty bannock, which was a big hit with the children. We have been very busy the last couple of weeks preparing for Christmas. We have been participating in lots of arts and crafts activities as well as learning the nativity story.
Everyone looked very festive and cosy today while we participated in Christmas Jumper Day. We will be donating any money raised to save the Children.
We had a day of celebrations today as three of our nursery children graduated. We wish them all the very best for school.
We would also like to thank Kenny for piping our children in, and making their day even more special. |
