The 0-2 group have been really busy this week taking part in a lot of creative weather activities. We have been investigating freezing and melting water and learning how ice is made. We also made ice paint, which they made some lovely pictures with.
For our snack we made sun biscuits - making and eating, what a great afternoon!

The boys are outside, enjoying some time to investigate the amount of water that has gathered in the tyres. One found a star fish in the sand area and took it up to put it in the water, telling us "it needs water to survive". Also ‘double trouble’ gathering water for their mud pies! Our poor mud kitchen took a bit of a battering in the recent gales, but this doesn’t stop us having some messy outdoor fun! The children made ice cream to celebrate 'Ice cream for breakfast' day. They enjoyed the process of making the ice cream, and especially the end result, tasting it!
Since the children in the 2-5 room have been learning about winter, they went to the power station in Loch Carnan to see what effect the winter weather has on us.
They were shown a clip of what windy weather can do and the Personal Protective Equipment the staff have to wear and use when working. They took turns operating the crane and even found time to do some colouring in! Thank you to the staff of SSE for taking the time to show our children around. They thoroughly enjoyed their day and were full of stories on their return to Cothrom. |
