A Fun Afternoon took place in Cothrom Og where the children, their parents and their siblings had many fun opportunities to hear and use Gaelic.
Shona Mason from Ceòlas was with us and the children had the chance to shake and hit some instruments and create some lovely music. Singing can be heard every day in Cothrom Og, but it was especially loud in the tent that day with Penny Burgess leading the singing. The children had the opportunity to sit with Liam Alasdair Crousse and hear some stories or create some art work, or to go with Peigi-Ann MacMillan from Ceòlas and play some different games. There was tea and coffee provided and some information leaflets to read about Gaelic, Gaelic Medium Education and local classes which are available. With thanks to Kenny MacDonald and Murphy MacEachan the children had the chance to go inside a lorry and a tractor and this caused great excitement. Another thing which the children enjoyed very much was getting their face painted in beautiful colours by Helen Cummings. There were some great Gaelic words to be heard like ‘giomach’ and ‘crùbag’ as the children got the opportunity to handle some live seafood. Luckily it was dry and we could put the bouncy castle up and the children were climbing and sliding and squealing with delight!
