Sgeul ri Teachd / Future Story took place over six months in 2022. We invited local residents to imagine life in Uist in the year 2052, the results of which will be published in 2023.
What do you think life in Uist would be like in 2052? Have a go at some of the writing activities and see what you discover. You can download them here: sgeul_ri_teachd_resources.pdf This project was funded by the British Science Association and Climate Fringe Festival. |

Bring along an object that is special to you, it could be a favourite mug, a tool that has helped you build something, something interesting you found at the beach, or a wooden spoon that you use every day for making your porridge. Whatever it is, it has a story to tell...
We would like you to use whatever language you want to tell your story. Workshops on 7th/8th/12th/13th will be facilitated in both Gaelic and English.

Sgeul ri Teachd / Future Story
We're excited to announce our new community writing project
(Sgeul ri Teachd / Future Story) funded by the British Science Association.
We're looking for local residents to creatively explore questions around climate change in a four-month community writing project. Through fun, interactive sessions, you will develop research and writing skills and produce your own collective 'story to come'.
Anyone aged 12+ living in the Uist area can apply, no experience in creative writing necessary. We'd like to bring together a mixed group of residents of different ages and with different experiences. The creative writing you produce can be in English and/or Gàidhlig and we welcome all language backgrounds and levels.
Sessions will be delivered by Cothrom with support from social-scientist and climate researcher Katriona McGlade and award-winning poet and educator Katharine Macfarlane.
The project will start on Saturday 7th May 2022 and participants are expected to attend up to 8 Saturday workshops from May - September 2022. These will be delivered both in-person and online.
Our first meeting will be at Cothrom, South Uist, Saturday 7th May, 12:00-14:30 (including lunch). Following meetings will be at different locations in Uist and online. Transport and refreshments provided.
If you're interested in joining the project please send either a short written response or video clip of your response to the question, 'What interests you about this project?' by 25th April 2022 to alison.stockwell@cothrom.net or call 01878 700919 if you want to find out more.
Applicants will be selected and notified by 29th April 2022.
