If you've got clothes and textiles, books, CDs, DVDs, or furniture that you no longer want - pass it on! You can drop it off at Bùth ReStore, alternatively use the clothes banks dotted around the island for any textiles, or ask our van for a free pick-up. Scottish Vocational Qualifications allow you to study for a qualification in an area relevant to your current job. It is a great way to gain more skills while still working and getting paid.
Cothrom offers a variety of SVQ's including Business and Administration, Social Services and Healthcare (including childcare), Hospitality, and Horticulture. Whether you are currently in a job in any of these areas or not, having a qualification that comprises largely of practical experience is a great way to upgrade your CV. Cothrom offer both Foundation Apprenticeships as well as Modern Apprenticeships.
A Foundation Apprenticeship is taken as a subject while you are still in school. For example, if you choose to study childcare you will receive both tutoring in school as well as work experience as part of your apprenticeship. Modern Apprenticeships consist of mostly practical experience through employment while also being supported by a tutor to achieve academic requirements. For example, you can undertake an SVQ (Scottish Vocational Qualification) in Business and Administration while working as a receptionist or other office-based job. Apprenticeships are an excellent way to demonstrate both experience and relevant qualifications to your future employer. |
