Food and beverages will be provided on both days, please book in advance through Susan on susan.thomson@cothrom.net The Mentorprise Maker's Forum is a network of Uist makers and producers brought together by the Cothrom Mentorprise project with the aim of making connections between producers to improve the sustainability of their craft.
In the past we have had informative talks on marketing and product design by Robin of Hebridean Candles, and on setting up a social enterprise by Sarah MacLean, of Bùth Bharraigh - to which we also made a site visit. Recently, we made a site visit to Uist Wool where we learnt about the process of turning sheep's fleeces into artisan yarn, and to the Grimsay Community Association at Ceann na h-Àirigh where small producers are able to stock their products. The Mentorprise Maker's Forum was created for makers and producers who are often sole traders as an opportunity to meet others in similar positions to share their experiences and support. If you would like to sign-up for any future talks, workshops, or site visits - please don't hesitate to get in touch with Project Lead Fiona Bateman at fiona.bateman@cothrom.net. The Às an Tobar writing competition will be taking submissions of poetry and short stories from 1st September until 14th October on the theme of "blether".
