Charlotte, one of our Modern Apprentices in Business and Administration, is undertaking her current work placement at ReStore. Modern Apprenticeships carry a focus on practical learning, with work placements playing a large part of the qualification. Charlotte began her Modern Apprenticeship at ReStore after participating in stages 2 and 3 of the Employability Fund here at Cothrom. Moving on to a Modern Apprenticeship is a natural progression for Charlotte.
Some of her day to day responsibilities as a Modern Apprentice in ReStore include shop duties such as customer service, completing sales through our till, and checklisting and pricing new furniture. She also updates the ReStore online catalogue, both on Instagram and Facebook. One of her most challenging tasks is the organisation of the van - mapping out where collections and deliveries are, as well as keeping in touch with customers and the van workers.
As part of her apprenticeship she has regular meetings with a supervisor and must submit a portfolio of evidence reflecting her learning.
Charlotte has undertaken three different work placements as part of the Employability Fund and her Modern Apprenticeship. These have not only given her a variety of experience great for her CV, but it's also been a great confidence boost.
Speak to our Training Co-ordinator if you think a Modern Apprenticeship is something for you. We are also always looking to partner up with local businesses who could benefit from taking on a Modern Apprentice.
